Internet feeds are the latest way to read information and listen to audio on the web.

RSS News Feeds

Ever wonder what those orange icons mean? You find them on Web sites that provide a steady stream, or "feed," of news and information, as Sound Medicine does. The orange icons enable you to subscribe to a feed, so you can get the info on your desktop as it becomes available.

In order to subscribe to a feed, you need a "news aggregator." An aggregator is simply software that displays the feeds in abstract form for quick perusal and easy access via hyperlink. We recommend the Bloglines service. It is free, requires no downloading, and is simple to use. Just register, set up some subscriptions, and you are off! More information on aggregators can be found by clicking here.

The Sound Medicine feed includes MP3 enclosures, so you can download segments for later playback.

If you use a news aggregator such as Bloglines, Newsgator, My MSN or My Yahoo, click the appropriate button below to subscribe to the Sound Medicine feed automatically. You can also subscribe to Sound Medicine via iTunes.

If you use another aggregator, follow these steps.

Subscribe to the podcast

Podcast aggregators are programs such as iTunes, Juice (formerly known as iPodder) and Odeo. A podcast is a special type of feed for audio files. Podcast subscribers get automatic downloads of audio files, which they can listen to either on their computer with mp3 software such as iTunes or with a portable mp3 player such as iPod.
