Dr. Stephen Bogdewic is executive associate dean for faculty affairs and professional development as well as professor and vice chair of the Department of Family Medicine.

He is the past president of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) and currently directs a national leadership development program for the American Academy of Family Physicians. His scholarly interests include professional development, organizational development, and leadership training.

Dr. Bogdewic received his master's degree in marriage, family and child counseling from Santa Clara University and his Ph.D. in adult and higher education from the University of North Carolina. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist and maintains a busy clinical practice.

David W. Crabb, M.D., is chairman of the Indiana University Department of Medicine. He oversees the scientific and clinical activities of 290 physicians and researchers and the education of more than 150 internal medicine and medicine-pediatrics residents. Dr. Crabb received the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1989.

Dr. Crabb's primary research interest is the metabolism of alcohol and genetic components of alcoholism. He was the recipient of a MERIT award from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the Young Investigator Awards from the Central Society of Clinical Research and the Research Society on Alcoholism.

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Purdue University in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in biology and received his medical degree from Indiana University in 1978. He did his residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and was chief resident of internal medicine in 1982-83. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Indiana University School of Medicine in 1982.

Dr. Eric M. Meslin is director of the Indiana University Center for Bioethics, professor of medicine and assistant dean for bioethics at Indiana University School of Medicine, and professor of philosophy at the Indiana University School of Liberal Arts.

He came to Indiana University in July 2001 from the National Bioethics Advisory Commission (NBAC), where he had been Executive Director since 1998.

Dr. Meslin received his B.A. in Philosophy from York University (Toronto), and both his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Bioethics Program in Philosophy at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University in Washington, D.C

Frank Messina, M.D., F.A.C.P., is associate professor of clinical emergency medicine and internal medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He currently practices in the Wishard Hospital emergency department where he regularly teaches medical students and physicians in training. He has received several teaching awards and grants for his professional and lay public educational efforts (which include courses at the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency). His primary academic interests are in care for underserved populations and in medical education.

Dr. Messina graduated (Phi Beta Kappa) from Columbia University in 1983 with a B.A. in biology and received his medical degree from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in 1987. After residency training at Thomas Jefferson University, he completed a primary care medicine fellowship at the Regenstrief Institute of the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is a certified member of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Kathy Durham Miller, M.D., is assistant professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine and a member of the medical staff of Clarian Health, where she specializes in the treatment of breast cancer including conducting clinical trials. She is a member of the National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center at Indiana University.

Dr. Miller was assistant professor of medicine at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine where she practiced at the Roger Maris Cancer Center. She's a certified member of theAmerican Board of Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology.

Dr. Miller earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1991, after taking a leave of absence from her studies to serve as the International 4-H Youth Exchange representative to Botswana. She has a bachelor's degree in biology and graduated with honors from the University of Miami (Florida) in 1986.

Ora Hirsch Pescovitz, M.D., is executive associate dean for research affairs at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she leads basic and clinical research initiatives. She also serves as president and CEO of Riley Hospital for Children, Clarian Health Partners.

Dr. Pescovitz is a nationally recognized pediatric endocrinologist, and has research interests in the areas of growth and puberty. She is president of the Society for Pediatric Research, the world's largest pediatric research organization.

Dr. Pescovitz is the Edwin Letzter Professor of Pediatrics and professor of physiology and biophysics at the IU School of Medicine. She also is director of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology program at IUSM, one of the foremost programs of its kind in the nation.

She is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School.

Barbara Lewis is a veteran broadcast journalist in television and radio. She reports on health business news for Inside Indiana Business with Gerry Dick, which airs on WFYI public television and WISH-TV. She is a former anchor/reporter for WRTV-6, an Indianapolis ABC affiliate.
